Highlights from 2011 through 2019

2011–2012

A new national community

AARW’s earliest news presented a new association for Russian-speaking women in the United States. Activities included children’s celebrations, Russian-language and cultural-heritage programming, participation in the Fourth Forum of Russian Compatriots, and the Woman of the Twenty First Century roundtable in New York.

2013–2014

Women’s leadership and Road to Sochi

International Women’s Day programming connected leadership, education, philanthropy, cultural heritage, and awareness of violence against women. AARW also co-sponsored Road to Sochi 2014, using running events and public outreach to promote active living, cultural awareness, and people-to-people connection.

2015

Organizational renewal and practical programs

After its organizational center moved from New York to Washington, AARW reported renewed governance priorities, an annual plan, and a bilingual website direction. Announced activities ranged from craft and jewelry workshops to cultural outings, wellness programming, and online medical-information initiatives with partners.

2017–2018

Culture, wellness, and public awareness

News items promoted music, cultural education, fitness activities for women and children, and beauty and wellness gatherings. AARW also shared ArtWorks for Freedom programming in the Washington area addressing human trafficking and modern slavery through exhibitions, film, panels, community art, spoken word, and dance.

2019

National growth and mutual support

A June anniversary gathering marked AARW’s eighth year and the announced expansion of chapters to Seattle, Washington, and Columbus, Ohio. Coverage described a network supporting members through culture, education, legal information, and small-business connections, alongside a holiday message encouraging members to pass practical help forward.
